Wills Week
The primary benefits derived from our firm’s involvement in LSSA National Wills Week
Every year, Espag Magwai Attorneys joins the Law Society of South Africa’s (LSSA) National Wills Week initiative, as extended from time to time, based on our dedication to access to justice, community empowerment, and estate planning responsibility. The Wills Week program operates under these value-based principles and practices:
Promoting Legal Awareness and Empowerment
Through Wills Week, an opportunity is created to educate the public about creating valid wills drafted by an attorney. People often remain unaware that their estate would be distributed through the Intestate Succession Act 81 of 1987 when they die without a will because the Act does not honour their personal wishes and/or customs (unless provided for in the Act). We enable community members to understand their freedom of testation through our community engagement programs, which allow them to determine asset distribution, care for minor – and/or special needs children/family members and business continuity after death.
The service provides legal validity together with peace of mind to our clients.
The attorneys at our firm provide legal drafting services for wills that both meet individual client preferences and fulfil South African legal standards in complying with the provisions of the Wills Act 7 of 1953. Wills created without proper legal assistance become either invalid or unclear because this leads to expensive and unexpected outcomes and delays together with family conflicts. Our program guarantees that clients receive legally binding documents which uphold their wishes, practically and within the confines of our Law.
Accessible, Free Legal Services
Wills Week enables us to draft basic wills without charge to the public. Our Firm stands dedicated to community service, which aims to connect professional legal assistance with the public.
The wider purpose of this campaign works to teach people about why having a will is important after revealing that over 75% of South African estates do not have wills. The high percentage of intestate estates demonstrates an immediate necessity to introduce legal intervention coupled with educational measures.
Conflict Prevention and Family Harmony
At Espag Magwai Attorneys, we help protect clients from typical problems that occur when someone dies without a will because this leads to prolonged executor appointments, elevated expenses and family conflicts. Our work in arranging valid wills for clients produces beneficial and more expedient estate administration while maintaining harmony among family members in line with the wishes of the testator/testatrix.
Professional and Compassionate Service
The attorney provides individualised consultations to every client for understanding their personal needsfamily dynamics and specific situations. We handle every client with integrity and respect, maintaining their confidentiality, and we provide personalised care because estate planning requires a genuine, sensitised approach to personal needs.
